Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) will recognize five teachers with the Outstanding Nebraska Teacher Award as part of the Touchdown for Teachers (T4T) campaign on Saturday, April 27 during the Nebraska Football Red-White Spring Game.
BCBSNE partnered with Husker Athletics to encourage community members to nominate teachers in their lives who have gone above and beyond to support their students and improve their communities across Nebraska through the T4T campaign. In total, the campaign received 850 nominations from across the state.
This year’s Outstanding Nebraska Teacher Award recipients include:
- Julie Eastridge – Kindergarten teacher at Black Elk Elementary School
- Becky Lindgren – Math teacher at Elgin High School
- Monica Maly – Special education teacher at Blair High School
- Tami Phillipps – Sixth grade teacher at Sargent Public Schools
- Brianna Richards – Special education teacher at Fullerton Elementary School
Earlier this month, the teachers were surprised with a visit or video from Herbie Husker and an award ceremony surrounded by their students. Herbie, representatives from BCBSNE and Husker Athletics and the school’s administration presented the educators with a football signed by Matt Rhule, the Huskers’ head football coach, a framed certificate and tickets to attend the Nebraska Football Red-White Spring Game.
“Nebraska’s educators are the foundation of what makes our state great,” said Jeff Russell, BCBSNE’s president and CEO. “We’re proud to help recognize these exceptional educators, whose commitment to their students paves the way for a brighter future in our state.”
Recipients will be welcomed onto the field and honored at Memorial Stadium before the Nebraska Red-White Spring Game on Saturday, April 27.
