Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) employees were able to supply 389 Conestoga Elementary students with notebooks, folders, pencils and more to prepare them for the school year.

The school supply drive for Conestoga Elementary is an annual tradition at BCBSNE.

This year, BCBSNE employees had the option to adopt a classroom. Employees could also donate funds or miscellaneous supplies to support the drive.

Director of Diversity and Inclusion Jay Warren-Teamer and Community Engagement Intern Eryn Busenbark spearheaded the project and volunteered at the drive.

“It was amazing to be able to see the outpour of support from our employees translate into school supplies for students,” said Busenbark. “I loved being able to see the huge amount of support that BCBSNE employees had for this event, and it was so rewarding to get to hand out the items for the students’ first night back.”

In addition to the school supplies donated, BCBSNE raised $975 in monetary donations to put toward supplies for students and teachers’ highly requested items, such as tissues, Dixie cups, hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes and dry erase products.

“It was a joy to be there and greet students and families as they prepared for the new school year to begin,” said Warren-Teamer, “Back-to-school night is such an important touchpoint with the school, so being a small part of that by distributing supplies was really special.”
