Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) recently wrapped up its annual back-to-school supply drive, where employees helped provide 416 students and 16 teachers at Conestoga Elementary with the supplies needed to start the school year strong.
Throughout July, BCBSNE employees came together to support students and teachers at the school by donating essential school supplies, giving funds and adopting classrooms.
Employees were also invited to volunteer their time to help assemble school supply bags on Wednesday, Aug. 12. In total, 15 employees combined efforts to pack the bags, which included notebooks, pencils, folders and more. These kits were then dropped off at Conestoga Elementary for their back-to-school night and picked up by students.
“Every bag represents a child who can now focus on learning instead of worrying about whether they have the materials they need,” said Jimena Riojas-Arenivas, community engagement intern at BCBSNE and co-organizer of the drive. “I’m proud that BCBSNE continues to support Conestoga Elementary and demonstrate a commitment to investing in our community.”
Team Blue’s donations also allowed extra supplies to be delivered directly to the school, helping ensure all students and teachers have what they need for a successful year ahead.
