Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) recently supported over 400 students and 23 teachers at Conestoga Elementary School through its annual school supply drive.
As part of the drive, BCBSNE employees adopted classrooms and gathered donations to help Conestoga’s students and teachers get ready for the start of their new school year. In July, BCBSNE employees bagged supplies for students to receive on Thursday, Aug. 7 at Conestoga’s annual back-to-school night.
“We’re proud to give back to the communities we serve,” said Jay Warren-Teamer, community and strategic engagement leader at BCBSNE. “Every year we see strong employee engagement in the school supply drive. That’s a real testament to how our employees prioritize Nebraska’s students.”
Karah Gardner, an employee volunteer, said she enjoys giving back while connecting with her coworkers.
“Initiatives like this not only provide essential supplies to students and teachers in need but also speak to our mission to champion health and well-being,” said Gardner, manager of health and business analytics at BCBSNE. “Every pencil, notebook and backpack donated is a step toward equipping our children and teachers for success.”
