Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) strongly encourages members to receive their COVID-19 booster shot.
COVID-19 vaccines authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are a safe and effective way to reduce your risk of severe illness related to COVID-19. Do not receive any vaccination that has not been approved by the FDA.
It is never too late to get the booster shot after your primary vaccination series. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone over the age of five get booster vaccines.
Vaccine recommendations vary by age group and the vaccine an individual first received. Visit the CDC’s website for more information on keeping your COVID-19 vaccines up to date.
Most BCBSNE members can get their COVID-19 vaccination series at no cost. Through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the government is paying for the cost of the vaccine, and most health plans will cover the cost of the administration and related office visit if applicable.
Keep yourself and your community safe by visiting your local vaccine clinic or primary care physician and receiving your booster shot today.
“Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is committed to protecting the health of Nebraskans. We encourage all members to go receive their vaccine and lower their chances of having severe illness when infected with COVID-19,” says Dr. Josette Gordon-Simet, chief medical officer at BCBSNE.
