Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) was honored with three awards in December at the virtual 2021 Nebraska Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Paper Anvil Awards program.

The Paper Anvil Awards are an annual contest that acknowledges companies for exemplary work in public relations and communication efforts.

BCBSNE accepted the following awards:

  • Award of Merit in Events and observances: For the 2020 flu shot clinics, held in partnership with YMCAs across the state. This project required BCBSNE to align with each of the YMCAs and a flu vaccination vendor to schedule, coordinate and promote each of the clinics.
  • Award of Merit in Integrated communications: For BCBSNE’s Your Story ad campaign. This campaign’s objective was to tell the BCBSNE brand story through the lens of the company’s customers by sharing their stories. The goal was to illustrate how BCBSNE has always been and always will be there for them, throughout their health journeys.
  • Award of Excellence in Marketing consumer services: For BCBSNE’s Educators Health Alliance (EHA) Summer Health Campaign. This campaign set to address the health care of our EHA members through a new program: EHA Population Health. This program aimed to decrease emergency room utilization, hospital readmissions, improve health outcomes and lower overall health costs of those participating.

“Being recognized by industry leaders for our work in sharing our members’ stories is always an honor,” Malorie Maddox, chief marketing, communications and strategy officer, said. “We’re proud to celebrate these wins and showcase the many ways Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska supports our members and the communities across the state.”

Paper Anvil entries, including details of each stage of the public relations process (research, planning, execution and results), are reviewed and scored by a sister PRSA chapter. The most compelling works are honored during the ceremony.
