The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) Medicare Advantage Access PPO and Connect PPO plans 4-star ratings for 2024.

The yearly ratings are issued by CMS and rate health plans on a scale from one to five stars, with five being the highest. Star ratings measure the experiences Medicare Advantage members have with their health plan and the health care system and are based on more than 40 quality measures, including:

  • How the plan encourages members to stay healthy through benefits like screenings, tests and vaccine coverage
  • How the plan manages chronic medical conditions
  • How the member feels about their health plan based on member service ratings
  • How the plan handles member complaints and appeals
  • How the plan handles customer service

“Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska’s mission is to be a champion for the health and well-being of our members and the communities we serve,” said Dr. Josette Gordon-Simet, BCBSNE’s chief medical officer. “Helping our Medicare Advantage members get access to the medical care they need and encouraging and incentivizing them for healthy behaviors is part of that commitment.”

She added, “People who are Medicare-eligible have a lot of choice when it comes to coverage. Sometimes it can feel confusing or overwhelming. They should know that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is here to help them make informed decisions and provide them with the information and support they need.”
