HASC groundbreaking ceremony

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) has donated $10,000 to Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC) in support of its Health and Science Center (HASC) expansion project.

The expansion will include a new emergency medical services lab, nursing simulation, group study spaces, a 3D simulation lab and a faculty office suite. Additional classrooms, instructor offices and conference rooms will be added to accommodate the students and faculty.

The current HASC was built in 2012 and houses the math, science, dental assisting, medical lab technician, emergency medical services, paramedic, engineering, physics, and nursing programs and courses. MPCC aims to increase enrollment in the nursing program and enhance the current students’ learning experience while showcasing the latest technology for health occupations professions.

“The Mid-Plains Community College Health and Science Center Expansion allows us to grow the nursing program and provide skilled health care professionals in high-demand fields,” said MPCC President Ryan Purdy. “It also allows our students to study and start careers in their hometowns to support not only their families, but also our communities. We are grateful for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska’s support to help make this expansion a reality.”
