Morrill Elementary School recently celebrated the installation of new indoor and outdoor physical education equipment provided by a Project Fit America (PFA) grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE).

PFA is a nonprofit organization that promotes innovative fitness education in schools nationwide, with a focus on creating physically educated children and empowering them to take charge of their health.

BCBSNE has a longstanding tradition of working with PFA to provide fitness gear to schools across the state. Morrill, the latest grant recipient, unveiled its new equipment during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, May 8.

In addition to the equipment, PFA provided on-site training for a new curriculum designed to get kids fit and foster a love of movement.

“We’re committed to championing the well-being of all Nebraskans and are proud to support the Morrill community with our latest PFA grant,” Jay Warren-Teamer, BCBSNE’s community and strategic engagement leader, said. “Physical activity provides numerous health benefits for kids, from building bone strength to supporting heart and lung health. We hope the students enjoy the new gear and that it helps them develop lifelong healthy habits.”
